Saturday 3/22/25 in Philadelphia was a magnificent

Saturday 3/22/25 in Philadelphia was a magnificent day of recitals on the Wanamaker Organ, culminating with a gala two-hour concert attended by perhaps a thousand people, many with personal histories to share of the old Wanamaker's department store that in recent years has been a Macy's. That ends Sunday 3/23/25 when space occupied by the now-barren Macy's gets a new owner. Organist Richard Peter Conte spoke lovingly of the great organ and offered hope that it's performances days are not over. Andrew Ennis on flugelhorn & organ.

Tugs move the SS United States down the Delaware River past the Navy Yard as the ship departs Philadelphia on Feb. 19, 2025, after nearly 30 years at Pier 82.
